Who Am I?

As a Registered Nurse, Dawn Summer worked with patients and families to help them achieve their health goals.  She helped to welcome many babies into the world and felt blessed every time she got to greet a new soul embarking on their own journey. Dawn Summer was part of several committees at her previous place of employment in Ottawa, Ontario, helping to change clinical practice to be more practical, patient-focused and economical.

Dawn Summer always had the desire to care for people.  As a young child she carried a first aid kit on her bicycle in order to aid anyone in need during her adventures.  With a goal of becoming a doctor she worked hard during her school-aged years.  In her 12th year she decided that the traditional medical path was not for her, and eventually achieved her degree in Nursing.  Unfortunately, the current medical system was both limited and restrictive and Dawn Summer made the painful, yet healthy, decision to leave her once-loved career.  She took 5 years off work to go on her own healing and self-discovery journey.  In that time, she participated in shamanic journeying, yoga and meditation classes, switched to a more healthful diet (started incorporating fresh fruit and vegetable juices), moved to beautiful Vancouver Island, and had a second child.  These factors made Dawn Summer feel ready and open to helping others through their natural healing journey.

Dawn Summer completed her 4-year Baccalaureate in Nursing through the University of Calgary after completing the first 2 years of a computer science degree.  During that time, she also trained and worked as a Health Care Administrator in the Canadian Forces Reserves. Once she graduated, she started her nursing career at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary in labour and delivery and completed her certificate in Aromatherapy at Mount Royal College.  She worked as a nurse predominantly at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus in Ottawa, Ontario. At the end of her nursing career Dawn Summer took a few assessment courses at the masters of nursing level before deciding to leave the Nursing profession. While exploring future career goals she completed a course in complementary and alternative medicine as well as some business courses through Athabasca University. After moving to Campbell River, Dawn Summer spent two summers as an active volunteer with the Fruit Tree Project with Greenways Land trust.

In her spare time, Dawn Summer loves to enjoy all that this beautiful Island has to offer: Walking and hiking with her dog on the many nature trails that surround Campbell River, spending the day at the ocean and enjoying a beach fire, downhill skiing at Mount Washington, as well as yoga and yoga nidra practice. She loves to spend time photographing the details in all that she sees. Dawn Summer, along with her husband Nathan, take great joy in their family, the parents of two daughters: one teen and one toddler!
