IMMUNE STIMULATING ELDERBERRY & ECHINACEA TINCTURE

Elderberry & Echinacea root are powerful immune stimulants that can knock out a cold if you catch it early enough, and calendula is a powerful antimicrobial and lymphatic cleanser. The warming spices support circulation and balance out the formula. For the Echinacea, I like to use equal parts of Echinacea purpurea and angustifolia roots if possible.

  • 3 TBS dried blue or black elderberries (I use Harmonic Arts Elderberry Powder)
  • 3 TBS dried calendula petals or 6 whole flower heads
  • 1 TBS dried rosehips
  • 2 TBS Echinacea root
  • 1 TBS ginger root
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cloves
  • 2 star anise
  • 5 all spice berries

Put herbs and spices in a jar and cover with brandy/vodka or vinegar. Let steep for one full lunation before straining off and bottling. Take 1 -2 tsps per hour at first signs of a cold.

ELDERBERRY SYRUP

Dark purple elderberries are an incredible immune-boosting remedy to take it at the first signs of a cold. It is easy to make, tastes delicious and will keep for months in the fridge.

  • 1 cup dried elderberries
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 cloves
  • 2 TBS fresh ginger
  • 1/4 cup dried rose hips
  • 1 cup cherry juice
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/2 cup raw honey

Simmer the herbs and spices in the water and cherry juice for 30 minutes (or until reduced by 1/3), on medium heat. Cover and let steep for another 30 minutes before straining. Strain off herb matter using a fine muslin or double-layered cheesecloth, and pour into a clean bottle. Add the honey and brandy, which act as preservatives, and shake well. Store in the fridge and take 1-2 TBS per hour at the first onset of a cold or flu.

THIEVES OIL

Is a great blend for Immune Protection, as well as hand, surface and air purification. You may be wondering why it is called that way? Thieves Oil but it dates back to the 1400’s during the infamous Bubonic Plague (aka The Black Death) that devastated a large portion of Europe and Central Asia. Four thieves were immune to the illness due to a blend of oils they concocted, known today as Thieves Oil.

How Do You Make it:

  • 40 drops clove bud essential oil
  • 35 drops lemon essential
  • 20 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
  • 15 drops eucalyptus essential oil
  • 10 drops rosemary essential oil

Mix all the components together and store in a dark glass bottle. This solution is highly concentrated, dilute before using.

Tip: You may also wish to experiment and make your own thieves oil blend by adding or substituting other essential oils.
