Who Am I?
Nicole Berns is a Yoga Alliance certified yoga instructor and local to Vancouver Island. She graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of arts with a double major in English Literature and Creative Writing. She published a book of poetry upon graduation and is also an accomplished mountaineer, participating in expeditions across North America and South East Asia.
Nicole began practicing yoga in order to heal an old sports injury. However, yoga provided her with so much more. The creative expression, mobility, and mental clarity invigorated Nicole’s spirit. It was then that she knew she had to share this the world and she embarked on an adventure to Asia to train, hike, and write.
In 2016, Nicole completed her 200 HR Registered Yoga Teacher certification in Bali with the School of Sacred Arts. Upon completion, she moved to Malaysia to teach and hike in the highlands. Since returning to Canada, she has led and assisted in workshops across Vancouver Island, Europe, and South East Asia.
Nicole has a deep connection to her home and the healing properties of the ocean and mountains of Vancouver Island. She finds her creative voice rock climbing in the alpine of the north island and surfing on the west coast. The joy that it brings to her life she shares with her students on the mat.
Nicole is a top-notch instructor with clear guidance and compassion to her students. She teaches both core and restorative yoga, and is highly intuitive and adaptable to the individual needs and post- injuries limitations of her class. Her joyful spirit, passion and fitness level are super inspirational! They ignite a spark and love to yoga and self-care virtually in everyone.
In addition to yoga classes, Nicole is trained in a unique technique called Thai Yoga Massage.
