12. Organ Screen, Sensitivities and Candida Test (EDST) 1 ½ hrs $250
Electro Dermal Screening Test (EDST) is an electro-acupuncture diagnostic method, which allows determining specific food sensitivities, candida presence, as well as imbalance in the main body systems. This method was invented in the 1950's by the German Doctor Reinhold Voll whose name is given to another title of this treatment modality, EAV or Electro Acupuncture According to Voll. Dr. Voll discovered that when an internal organ's function or structure changes, the performance of the related meridian and acupuncture points also changed, and that this change could be measured using the device. Much like measuring the flow of a river, it the flow is swift, it may be an indication that the corresponding organ or system is in a state of inflammation. A sluggish reading would point to a deficiency or fatigue in the organ or system.
EDST session is performed by N.D. and includes the test, the results report and a consult on how to work with the issues that came up during the test.
EAV Machine (Electro Acupuncture according to Voll)
This unique technique helps lymph circulation and neuromuscular balancing, and can quickly alleviate common complains such as:
- Lower back pain
- Knee pain
- Frozen shoulders
- Hip pain
- Skeletal and muscular problems from lumbar to neck
- Jaw problems
- Digestive complaints
- Sports injuries
- Arthritis pain
- and much more
In its essence, Bowen therapy resets the body to heal itself. Everyone can benefit from this technique, from newborns to elderly.
The Bowen Technique consists of a number of gentle movements over a client’s muscles, bones and connective tissues at the precise location without sliding on the skin, first in their natural direction, and then in the opposite direction. This stimulates nervous system at the exact points requiring attention and makes surrounding fascia more fluid. As a result blood and lymph circulation at the site of injury increases, and healing accelerates. Bowen, the author of the technique compared it with guitar tuning, since the harmonious vibrations, created by this technique, rebalance body and can release blocked emotional energy.
14. B12 Shot by N.D. (B-shot) $40
A must to try for vegans! Often tremendously increases energy. Consult with N.D., whether you have symptoms of this important vitamin deficiency.
Benfits & Indications For Vitamin B12
- Vitamin B12 is a key element for preserving a balance in the human body.
- In combination with other B-group vitamins, vitamin B12 ensures the smooth functioning of vital life processes of the human body. It is important for maintaining a healthy nervous system and DNA production.
- Vitamin B12 helps to regulate the formation of red blood cells in the body.
- B12 is important in maintaining and increasing energy levels in the human body.
- If you suffer from bursitis, B12 is a key vitamin to hasten recovery. Talk with Dr. Maltais if you have this condition. People who have vegan and raw food diets often will have a deficiency and will need to consider taking it. Also, people who suffer from reflux or heartburn very likely are not absorbing B12.
- Vitamin B12 helps to curb atherosclerosis and counter heart diseases and thrombosis. The synthesis of S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), a compound involved in immune function and mood, depends on the association of foliate and vitamin B12.
- Studies indicate that absorption of Vitamin B12 decreases with an increase in age. Hence, an increased intake of vitamin B12 is extremely useful for adults above fifty. The recommended form of intake is via injection, since elderly people absorb this form better than food forms of vitamin B12. B12 aids in the cognitive function and heals neurological impairment within this group.
- B12 could be obtained from animal food sources (dairy and meat). No reliable plant sources have found to contain this vitamin in usable by humans form.
- Vitamin B12 can be taken in the form of supplements sublingually (good) or via injections (best) and is highly beneficial in various forms.
- Dr. Maltais uses methylcobalamin for Fresh Start clientele. Through this method, vitamin B12 can directly penetrate the bloodstream and yield numerous benefits. Methylcobalamin, the coenzyme form of vitamin B12 is the active form, which means that no metabolic steps are required for its ingestion and it can be used it in its normal form.
15. Vitamin B Complex Shot by N.D. (C-shot) $45
Vitamin B consists of a group of eight water soluble vitamins that co-exist in certain food items. The eight subtypes of vitamin B are vitamin B1 (thiamine), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin B3 (niacin), vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), vitamin B7 (biotin), vitamin B9 (folic acid) and vitamin B12 (cobalamin). In medical terms, nutritional supplements containing all these eight subtypes are called vitamin B complex or simply B complex. The role of vitamin B is crucial for the normal functioning of the body. To mention a few, it is responsible for promoting cell growth, cell division, skin health, immune system, nervous system and also in controlling the bodily metabolic processes. Hence, it is obvious that prolonged deficiency of vitamin B leads to certain health complications. Considering this, supplements are formulated in the form of vitamin B complex tablets and injections in order to combat the risks of vitamin deficiencies. Let's discuss in brief about vitamin B complex injection and its dosage, benefits and side effects.
Vitamin B Complex Injections
Vitamin B complex injections seem to be more effective in providing vitamin B to the body than other modes of administration (tablets, capsules and gels). The body enzymes and acids may alter the molecular structure of the vitamins once they are ingested. The injections are parenteral (not through digestive tract), most-often administered intramuscularly or intravenously. They are more expensive than other B complex forms.
Vitamin B Complex Injection Benefits
Vitamin B complex injections aid in quick and maximum absorption of the vitamins by the body cells and tissues. Vitamin B complex injections are beneficial for people who have problems in taking oral vitamin supplements.
There are numerous vitamin B complex benefits including:
dermatitis, psoriasis, increased fatigue, neuritis, difficulty in assimilation, stomatitis, anemia, intoxication, fever, severe burn, pregnancy, increased metabolism, impaired digestive tract, prolonged diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, alcoholism, burnout conditions, exhaustion, excessive stress, adrenal exhaustion, and various other B vitamin deficiency. Vitamin B injections are mostly used by athletes, children, vegetarians and adults over the age of 50.
16. Adrenal Support Injection (A-shot) $45
As a rule, it is safe to think that people who require a “fresh start” and register to the cleansing program would benefit from an adrenal support.
The adrenals are pea-sized glands that are located above the kidneys.
Adrenal fatigue refers to a collection of signs and symptoms that result when these glands are functioning below an adequate level.
Intense and prolonged stress, acute or chronic infections and other conditions can lead to adrenal fatigue. One of the main symptoms consists of fatigue that is not relieved by sleeping.
The adrenal glands are responsible for the release of hormones that have an effect on energy production and storage, immune function, heart rate, muscle tone, and other processes that enables one to cope with stress.
THE COMPOSITION OF THE NEW ADRENAL INJECTION (A-SHOT)
METHYLCOBALAMINE AND HYDROXOCOBALAMINE: Two types of active B12
AMP: adenosine mono-phosphate, the precursor to adenosine-tri-phosphate
ATP energy storage molecule. Mitochondria (the cell’s powerhouse) burn sugars and fatty acids to release energy.
ATP drives all energy-requiring chemistry and biology in our bodies. It should provide a “pick-me-up” for fatigued adrenal exhaustion cases.
CAFFEINE is a stimulant, but with quite complex biochemistry in various tissues of the body. Often it will synergize and amplify the ingredients in formulas, such as many common over-the-counter analgesics.
CHROMIUM is a blood sugar balancer. The common denomitator in healthy aging is without any doubt balanced blood sugar.
D-BIOTIN is a co-enzyme and plays a role in the metabolism of lipids, proteins and carbohydrates. It may also play a major role in DNA replication as it interacts with the DNA binding proteins known as histones.
METHYLFOLATE is involved in neurotransmitter synthesis and critical enzymatic reactions throughout the body. By depleting excess homocysteine, folate benefits cardiovascular health and nervous system function.
PROCAINE: is a tonic, particularly a neurotonic. It is used in neural therapy, and in geriatrics to reverse cognitive decline.
PYRIDOXINE (B6) is required for untilization of energy in the food you eat, production of red blood cells and proper functioning of nerves.
THIAMIN (B1) helps the body’s cells change carbohydrates into energy. Carbohydrates provide energy for the body.
Dr. Lise recommends that you received a minimum of 2 shots during your stay at Fresh Start.
Services for Improving Mobility and Muscular-Skeletal Function
17. Ortho-Bionomy 1 hr $100; 1 1/2 hrs $135
It is a gentle, non-invasive, technique with its roots in Osteopathy that has been effectively used in dealing with chronic stress, traumatic events (physical and emotional), and body pain, related to postural and structural imbalances. Ortho-Bionomy means the correct application of the laws of life. Its developer Dr. Arthur Lincoln Pauls, believed that “it is the literal skeleton upon which our life is built. When your structure works right, your circulation works better, you feel better, you think better.”
During this session you will be fully dressed. The gentle positioning and subtle compression and distraction techniques release tight muscles around the restricted areas. This results in a deep relaxation and activation of the body’s self-correcting reflexes, which naturally bring the structure back into alignment. Unhealthy tension patterns resolve, while circulation, flexibility and range of motion increase. Additionally, rhythmic movements and isometrics or integrative exercises are used to help re-educate body for pain relief and self-healing, and reinforce the therapeutic effect of the treatment.
Ortho-Bionomy has been used for the following ailments:
- Neck and Back Pain
- TMJ Discomfort
- Frozen Shoulder
- Knee Injuries
- Shock and Trauma Resolution
- Rib Problems
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Hiatus hernia
- Pregnancy care
- Post-op care

All leaving you sensing less pain, moving with greater ease, and absorbing a relaxation response so deeply your body will truly believe it is beginning a fresh start.
19. Clavitherapy 1 hr. $100; 1 1/2 hrs. $135
The technique was discovered in the 1960s by Doctor Ferdynand Barbasiewicz, of Poland, and has been researched and practiced for over forty years in Europe. It is new to Canada, and currently there are only thirteen practitioners, performing the therapy in this country. Clavitherapy is a unique method of detoxification that helps regulate the digestive, vegetative (brain function) and endocrine systems, and is applied in psychological and neurophysiologic rehabilitation. It optimizes metabolism, activates cortisone & stem cells; as well as helps to regulate emotions, excessive nervousness, and elevate mood.
Dr. Barbasiewicz performing Klawiterapia (Clavitherapy)
The treatment is performed with the use of special tools called clavicles, which are placed on the scalp and skin. The therapist holds 14 clavicles in each hand and gently stimulates cranial nerves, central nervous system on the spine and peripheral nervous system. The clavicles do not penetrate the skin, but rather are held in place by the therapist to evoke a response. Acupuncture meridians, as well as reflex therapy elements may also be applied in this treatment. The therapy adjusts personal electrical potentials and helps restore lost conduction of nerve signals in nerve fibers. The lost nerve signals, along with hormonally and chemically changed blood are reasons for susceptibility to ill health.
Clavitherapy promotes healing and well-being, as well as has found to be effective for:
- Headaches, Migraines
- Disturbances of blood circulation to feet & hands
- Paresthesia (an abnormal sensation, as burning, prickling, and numbness)
- Cold limbs
- Low blood pressure
- High blood pressure
- Throat and gland infections
- Sinus problems
- Burning of the feet
- Back & Neck pain
- Sports injuries/trauma, frozen shoulder
- Bipolar extremes and other emotional health issues
- Conditions that result from a stroke
- Some neurologic symptoms (i.e. ALS, foot drop, M.S., Parkinson’s)
Note: The more serious conditions and the more chronic, the longer the time period will involve.
Contraindications: Pacemaker, susceptibility to thrombosis/embolism or after organ transplantations, recent heart attack. For more info read: www.klawiterapia.com
Note: This therapy may feel a bit uncomfortable, especially for people with low pain tolerance level. Saying this, it may be very helpful to people with nerve numbness, related to prolonged restricted blood circulation (due to a fall, a car accident and other injuries, spine misalignment), as well as if a person has a lot of pain in their back, sciatica etc. It may be compared to deep tissue massage, where a temporary discomfort may be experienced. However, Clavytherapy is very different technique than deep tissue massage. Deep tissue massage stimulates muscle, and clavytherapy – nerves.
Also please be aware that this treatment may be beneficial for people with some emotional health issues (see description above), but the action of this treatment is working through acupressure points release and work on nervous system. If you need to do more “counseling”-“life coaching” type of treatment, or to work deep seated emotions, it is best to use other emotional release techniques, described in the Emotional Health section.
20. Laser Therapy (Phototherapy) 1 hr $90 1 1/2 hrs $125 - also good for support of emotional/adrenal health and sleep
A special laser device is placed on specific areas of the body, including adrenals, thymus, vagus nerve and sacrum. Additionally, a few programs will be used for targeting problem areas. Relax, feel your breath deepening as the laser helps bring your hormonal system and entire body to homeostasis. The laser treatment is integrated with various massage therapy modalities.
Laser light can be very helpful for insomnia, pain relief, stress reduction, cravings related to smoking cessation, as well as being used to improve lymph circulation and enhance the immune system. According to published evidence, LT is at least equal to surgical and manual therapies for a range of pathologies including neck pain, tendonitis, tendinosis (chronic tendonitis), and osteoarthritis. It is also used for nerve and other tissue regeneration, soft tissue injuries, scars, chronic pain, especially temporomandibular-related pain, and wound healing.
How laser light works: it donates photons to the cells and stimulates production of ATP (energy of cells), important for growth and regeneration of the cell, much like sun rays stimulate plants to produce energy for growing big and juicy fruit. Laser Light also activates glands to produce hormones, acts positively on adrenals, and clears cellular memory, created as a result of stress and tension in the body. Tension traps energy and prevents its free flow through the body, which leads to rapid aging and disease. Everybody knows about the connection between stress and stomach ulcers. Tension and trapped inside energy can also adversely influence liver and pancreas, and other organs. Releasing this tension will improve blood circulation and enhance the healing abilities of the body.

In 1953 Marilyn Monroe became very ill while in Tokyo, Japan. She failed to respond to Western Medical treatment. She received Shiatsu sessions every day for a week and had a remarkable recovery. Shiatsu was subsequently brought to North America due to its remarkable results.
Shiatsu is a non-invasive physical therapy that stimulates the body’s own healing powers. It is carried out in prone, supine and lateral or side position with the client dressed in comfortable clothes. The Shiatsu practitioner presses down on the areas of tension and holds each point for 3-5 seconds. He/she also uses stretching techniques to encourage full range of motion, and by opening the flow of energy many symptoms of imbalance are corrected (including pain, & feeling tired and unwell).
Neuromuscular Shiatsu uses circular motions to ease the tension in sore or aching muscles, interrupting the pain cycle and facilitating free flow of energy and blood circulation. Most people find Shiatsu to be a deeply relaxing treatment and after the session find they have more vitality and energy.
Shiatsu helps improve function of muscles and joints and calm nervous system, as well as has been found to be effective in relief of many acute and chronic conditions including:

Acupuncture is one of the most commonly used medical practices in the world. Specific points on the body are stimulated with very fine disposable needles to encourage the body to promote natural healing, improve functioning and restore health.
Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that pain and illness result from imbalances within the body. By needling specific acupuncture points imbalances can be corrected and internal organs influenced. Acupuncture helps balance the movement of energy to restore health and prevent illness gently and without side effects.
The World Health Organization recognizes that acupuncture is effective in treating:
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- High blood pressure
- Acute and chronic gastritis
- High fever
- Nausea and vomiting
- Post-operative pain
- Knee pain
- Gastro spasm
- Facial pain
Disclaimer: Experience of each guest with this treatment is unique and varies from one person to another. We cannot guarantee the depthless of the emotional release, because it is a very personal matter and depends on a lot of factors.
38. Heart Healing Session with Theresa 1 hr $90 1 ½ hrs $125
Here is what our guests have said:
“I was hesitant to do this session, as I had life coaching before, and it was not very helpful to me. I went, because this service was suggested to me by the Program Director, and I trusted it may be good for me. I had experience with many life coaches before. Theresa works on more than just the mental level - she works also on spiritual and energetic levels, which is so crucial when you deal with addictions and behavioral patterns. Those cannot be addressed by merely talking about what you should or should not do. You need to be able to help the person start changing a pattern, and this is what Theresa was able to help me hugely with.” “Theresa has this amazing ability to take you to the very root of your issue. She was able to do in 1 hr the same work that it took for the counselor I worked with before 10 years.”
The Heart Healing session with Theresa may be helpful to anyone who is dealing with fear, grief, uncertainty, or other life circumstances that feel beyond his/her control. It is for the person who needs to be heard and supported, to increase personal awareness, and to move forward. We sincerely hope that this session will help one gain clarity in his/her sense of self and life direction, and to become witness of his/her authentic self. The practitioner will do her best to help you acknowledge your true natural way of being; together you’ll discuss ways to notice and change behaviors that no longer serve you.
Here are the main areas of Theresa’s specialties: :
- Personal Growth
- Stress Management Coaching
- Bereavement Coaching
- Achieving Balance
- Wellness related issues
- Organization & Productivity
- Spiritual awareness and growth
- Quit smoking coaching/ other addictions
39. Stop Smoking Coaching Sessions with Theresa
Cost of one session 1 hr $90 1 1/2 hrs $125
An ex-smoker herself, Theresa went through withdrawal symptoms and was able to overcome the habit she loved and hated for many years. She’ll be able to relate to how you feel if you are going through the same experience. If you are ready to make this big step in your life and to part with your “nicotine buddy” for good (whether you are planning to quit here or before), Theresa may be able to help you go through the grieving process and/or to address the void that you may feel in your heart and social surroundings, as well as some fears you may be dealing with after quitting.
We hope you already made a decision to leave cigarettes at home, maybe even to quit several days or weeks prior, or to smoke the last cigarette before leaving the airport. Such scenarios would be best, and not only because this may alleviate your physical detox symptoms. We have found that this is what most guests who come to us do and suggest others to do. This helps one commit 100% to accomplishing the goal and to be truly successful in overcoming the habit. It is so easy to think: “I’ll do it tomorrow”. The truth is: “There is no tomorrow”. Tomorrow is the result of decisions and choices we made yesterday. Tomorrow is just a myth that does not exist. If you decide inside yourself, that it is your time, nothing, absolutely nothing will be able to stop you. And if you ask yourself a question: “Am I ready? Is this the right time for me to do it? – You’ll know instantly the answer.
Note: If you are not ready to quit at the moment and come to us with different goals, this is totally ok. However, it is best if you know about it prior to coming, to avoid disappointment and to be able to accept it. We’ll support you in that decision.
Yet if quitting smoking is truly your goal at this time, please make a solid plan how and when. It is so important! If you prefer to take the last cigarette at the time of your retreat with us, Theresa will be happy help you develop the “quitting plan”. Just let her and us know in advance that this is the help you would like to receive from us.
What is included in your Stop Smoking Coaching Sessions with Theresa ?
The description of the sessions below is just a sample, to share with you what Theresa can do for you. Your session will be unique to you and customized to your needs and situation.
Session 1 We would review your smoking history. Get you to look deeper into the reasons you started smoking. Everyone who smokes has their reasons for smoking. It may be a result of habit or addiction, or both. You may like how it makes you look or feel. Or, maybe you feel like it helps you relax, boosts your energy, gives you time to yourself, or helps you control your weight. Smoking could also be something that you share with others. I will tailor the tools necessary to best suit you and your needs. . We will make a date to completely quit, if you haven’t already done that. Before that date start noticing every time you go to have a cigarette. Ask yourself can I go without this one. Can I put it off a little longer? Start replacing the craving, the behaviour with positive behaviour and distractions. Like a glass of water.
Session 2 We will assess where you are in your process. Look to see if there are hidden subconscious beliefs that need to be addressed. We will make conscious and unconscious energetic adjustment so you have more control of the process. E.F.T. ®, T.A.T. ®, and Matrix Energetics® are tools I combine for this purpose. The results from these tools never cease to amaze me.
Learning to recognize your smoking triggers is an important part of quitting. When do you feel the urge to smoke? Common triggers include: drinking coffee or alcohol, relaxing after work or after a meal, walking, on the phone or when driving, feeling stressed or angry.
Take a look at how you can break the association between smoking and your routines. Here I will provide you with TAT technique which is a quick and easy energetic way to stop the craving. On completion of second session we will also do matrix energetics, it is an energetic transformation technique which will shift your energetic patterns of addiction to one of non addiction.
Session 3 The third session will be a follow up of how you are doing and where you still need help and encouragement. I will listen, and together we will assess and provide tools and a plan to help you continue on your journey of being a non smoker.
Disclaimer: Please remember that the biggest part of success is your firm decision to be free from a habit, your readiness to let go of your old friend, whose friendship is toxic to your health and life. Is this pain big enough to let it go? Are you ready to let it go? Are you willing to let it go now? Remember that there is nothing more powerful and effective as human desire to change. We are here to support and encourage you. The same goes for all emotional health work you do with us.
*For maximum benefit we suggest that you take all 3 sessions. However, any number of appointments may be beneficial.
**The min number of appointments per day for this service is 2. It means that we need to have two people who book this type of services on the same day (or life coaching sessions), in order to be able to offer it. We apologize in advance for any possible inconveniences related to this.
40. Integrative Life and Health Coaching with Geri 1 hr $90, 1 ½ hrs $125 – for the first visit please book 1 ½ hrs

41. Reiki Energy Work 1 hr $90 1 1/2 hrs $125
Reiki is an effective healing art originally from Japan that is being used in hospitals and other medical care facilities as means to help patients stay calm and relaxed. It is a very soothing technique and is done without removing clothes. Practitioner places his/her hands gently on various positions of the body and uses the same energy points as acupuncture. Reiki works by removing blockages of energy and tension, allowing blood and increased energy to flow more freely to the areas requiring healing. The many beneficial effects that can be achieved during a Reiki session include: pain relief, strengthening of immune system, relaxation, improved sleep, calming of restless thoughts, as well as feelings of peace, joy and wellbeing. Reiki benefits the emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical levels of the body.
The one hour treatment includes a mini introductory session of transcendental meditation – the useful tool that you will be able to take home and use to help your mind to not wander during meditation.
42. Shantis/Schrantanis Energy Work 1 hr $90 1 1/2 hrs $125
Shantis is similar to Reiki in the sense that it channels universal energy, but it is practiced in a totally different way. The practitioner touches the client only minimally. Her hands flow over all the body, focusing on both the physical and ethereal bodies. Shantis brings an inner awareness which enables the client to identify various negative life memories. Understanding and acceptance of these events and the circumstances surrounding them finally brings forgiveness towards oneself and the others involved.
43. Acupressure 1 hr $90 1 1/2 hrs $125
Acupressure is a body treatment that accesses and releases blocked or congested energy centers in the body, located along energy pathways called Meridians – the same pathways that are used in Acupuncture. When these centers are blocked, a person may experience a lot of physical and emotional discomfort and pain. Through the use of gentle, yet firm finger pressure on specific points and body-focusing techniques, Acupressure helps release physical and emotional tension, promoting a profound depth of relaxation.
Acupressure is accomplished with the client lying (supine) on the back and the therapist slides her hands underneath the client to push up and into the points within each client’s comfort level, allowing a general release of the tension in the muscles, as well as in the mind, and increased energy flow. Specific points are held for 1 minute – 3 minutes. Long-held emotions may also surface and dissipate. Sessions are held in a safe, supportive, and comfortable environment.
*For your acupressure session, please wear soft, comfortable clothing (no belts preferred).
Acupressure has been effectively used by people with the following health conditions and symptoms:
- Tension and fatigue
- Stress-related headaches and migraines
- Poor blood circulation
- Gastrointestinal problems
- Back and shoulder pain
- Eye strain
- Sinus pain
- Hormonal imbalances, including PMS and menstrual problems
- Nerve and muscle disorders
- Shoulder, neck, leg and lower back pain
- Tennis elbow
- Muscle spasms
- Joint stiffness
- Teeth grinding
- Electrolyte Imbalances
- Emotional trauma
Laser Therapy (see the description earlier in this list) may also be helpful in balancing of hormonal system, particularly adrenal glands and vagus nerves, and for enhancing healthful and deep sleep and relaxation. It also may be beneficial for people who quit smoking and want to decrease tobacco cravings.
Ayurveda and Aromatherapy Massage may also be beneficial for hormonal/emotional balancing, and addictions recovery.

Acupressure facial helps correct the internal imbalances that create the face’s wrinkles, sagging, discoloration, dark circles, or “bags” under the eyes. It encourages lymph drainage and enhances the skin’s ability to “breathe.” It stimulates the skin’s own ability for collagen production, softening the skin and smoothing wrinkles, and promotes normal secretion from the sweat and oil glands. It also regulates and stimulates internal organ system function and promotes muscle contraction. In addition to its beautifying effects, this treatment also may alleviate chronic neck pain, sinus issues or eyestrain related pain, and headache.
46. Foot Health Treatment 1 hr $75

48. Ear Candling approx. 45 min $90 (+$15 for an additional 3rd pair of candles, if necessary (rare))
This wonderful relaxing treatment may be effectively used by those who have sinus pressure; sore throat, cold symptoms, migraines, chronic earaches, TMJ, gradual deterioration of hearing (only if it is related to wax build-up) and ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Even if none of these are present, it may be still beneficial for everyone and has been enjoyed by many guests due to its utterly relaxing nature. While the ear candling is done, the practitioner will also do some acupressure on the face, sinuses, head and neck. If there is still time left, she may perform “ear balancing” – an orthobionomy technique helping open Eustachian (ear) tubes and clear congestion in the head. All of these will help cleansing performed by ear candling itself.
During this treatment we use 4 high-quality bees wax candles. This is what is so different about them:
- Made with natural unbleached cotton and pure bee wax, free of chemicals;
- Infused with synergistic blend of herbs and flower essences to enhance cleansing and healing. The herbal blend is a combination of sweet grass, sage, lavender, cedar and comfrey. The Flower Essence blend is arnica, black current, buttercup, white yarrow, Labrador tea, Echinacea.
- Are longer than many usual candles (10 inches long), as well as are triple dipped in wax. This makes the candles burn longer, more evenly and produce much better results than cheaper versions (at least from our experience and feedback of clients who had ear candling before).
49. Head, Hair and Scalp Treatment 45 min $50
This treatment includes a head and scalp massage, application of the custom blend of nourishing organic oils, and a neck and shoulder, or facial massage. It helps activate hair growth, relax, distress, let go of an active mind, and is good for those who have braking and split hair, eczema or dryness of the scalp. It feels amazing and may put you to sleep, or make you sleep later like you dream for...
Important Notes: Our body work is based on a principle of getting maximum results with maximum gentleness. However, please be aware that after deep tissue body work (acupressure, sports/ deep tissue massage, clavytherapy, orthobionomy etc.) you may feel some muscle soreness and discomfort. This is a normal aftereffect of this kind of treatments and should go away within several days, in some cases it may take up to a week. Some people may not feel any of the aftereffects at all, while others do more. The last one is especially true in cases of old and advanced structural issues, fibromyalgia. If you prefer just gentle treatments, or are super sensitive to firm touch and prefer to avoid it, please notify our booking personnel and therapists working with you. However, it is possible to experience muscle soreness after any bodywork.
* All Fresh Start Spa Services are subject to availability of therapists. We apologize in advance if we are unable to provide certain services to you. Spa Prices are subject to change without notice.

Welcome to Fresh Start Spa!
We are proud to offer you a wide variety (over 40) of highest quality treatments. We hand pick therapists with extensive experience, and deep understanding of how to work with a variety of health conditions. Most of our therapists have 10-20 years of experience in body work and use a large number of techniques to design the treatments for your individual needs. Whether you have a structural issue you would like to address, or simply to pamper yourself, we’d be happy to offer you both. We aim that the quality of our services goes far beyond good. A large number of our guests come back because of the quality of our therapies.
In order to accommodate your booking needs to the maximum extent possible, we offer our services exclusively, or almost exclusively for our retreat guests. You can get to know the therapists very closely and to choose which therapist/therapists you would like to work with (as long as they are available). Due to some unique therapies, sometimes only one or two therapists would be able to perform a particular service. To be able to work with the therapist of your choice offers a huge advantage for you. You can read about our therapists and what services they offer on our About Us page.
Our Treatment Hours and How We Book
Our spa treatment hours are 1-9PM. This is the best time for the cleansing program, which is designed in a way to suit your healing process best. We book our appointments sequentially, which means the following: if the last appointment booked for the day and the therapist of your choice is at 4:00, and it is 1 hr long, the next available appointment will be at 5:15.
Some treatments may be available only on specific times or days, or require min number of requests. So please check, when the therapist you'd like to see is available.
Our program is structured in such a way, that regardless of when you book your appointment, you’ll be able to visit most workshops and health lectures, to take all cleansing drinks and to participate in an evening steam bath session, which we consider the most important elements of the program. Note: If you have your spa treatment and during that time a cleansing drink is served, it'll be waiting for you in the dining area when you are done.
Because we offer a wide variety of extra curriculum activities daily and they are ongoing, our spa appointments are scheduled throughout those activities. So when you book your appointment, please make sure you know what activity is happening at that time and do not mind missing it. As our respected guest you’d have a privilege to make a choice between activities and treatments available.
Note: Please be prepared to some waiting time for services with N.D.
How to Book a Spa Appointment
Please schedule your services in advance so that we can meet your requests. Our Program Assistant will be happy to assist you with bookings at the front desk located in the Spa Centre lobby.
Currently we are working on on-line booking option, which will make the bookings available to you any time anywhere, and will allow seeing how much availability is left per therapy or therapist.
How to Keep Track of Bookings
It is your responsibility to keep track of your scheduled appointments. Please check your appointments on the board in the spa lobby, or upstairs in the Dining room and add them to the schedule in your binder.
Cancellation and Switching of Appointments Policy
- Spa Appointments Cancellation Policy: noon of the day prior to the day of an appointment is the cut-off time for cancellations. Unfortunately, we will not be able to take any afternoon/ evening cancellations 1 day before your appointment nor any same day cancellations. This policy is applicable even if you booked your appointments at very short notice (the same day, a few hours ago etc.). We need this time to be able to juggle appointments and to give appropriate notice to therapists. Thank you for your understanding.
Exceptions: you may switch your appointment with another guest, or to change the type of appointment with the same therapist (must be same length) at shorter notice – please do not switch around appointments on your own, talk to the Program Assistant.
- If you want to switch with another guest, please come to the Program Assistant together with this person to do so. If you switched appointments without registering with our Program Assistant, in case of confusion and no show, the person who was originally booked for that time will be responsible and charged a no-show fee.
- Sometimes we may need to do some juggling to fit in all the booking requests of your group participants, or in order to group appointments for therapists. We appreciate your flexibility and patience.
- Due to the fact that all spa bookings are done for your retreat group only, the appointment juggling is extremely difficult for us. We would really appreciate if you minimize cancellations.
Due to the high chance of mistakes and double handling of data, when leaving notes for our Spa Desk staff on duty, please follow the following guidelines:
- Use ONLY the clip board at the Spa Front Desk and the specially provided form. Do not leave any notes on the Program Assistant Desk, sticky notes, scrap paper
- Please write down the time when you leave the note, as well as your signature.
- Please do not leave personal notes, as this is publicly accessible info.
- Notes left at the very end and after working hours, will be processed next day not earlier than at 9 a.m.
- For urgent messages: please see staff in person. It may take several hours to process your note.
Late Cancellations, Arrivals/ No Show
Late cancellations (less than 48 hrs notice), no-shows and the late arrivals that require rescheduling will be charged as 60% of the service cost. If you arrive for your appointment late but still at the time it is reasonable to start it, your appointment will be performed, but cut short.
Note: Remember that ferries and planes may not always be reliable due to the weather conditions and high volume of travelers in season. Unless you come for a very short program, it is best to register the first treatment not earlier than on the next day upon arrival. If you book an appointment on the day of your arrival, please be aware that in case if you are not able to make it, you'll be charged the no show/late arrival fee.
During the program: We suggest not to leave the resort for sightseeing (unless a scheduled excursion with a FS guide), shopping etc. on the day when you have your appointment, prior to your appointment. If you do, please make sure you’ll be back at least 2 hrs before the treatment (in case of a flat tire, getting lost, delay in town or miscalculation of time).
How to Pay for Spa Services
Methods of Payment: We accept payments by debit, credit card, cheque and cash. For your convenience, we require only one payment for all spa services and other extra FS products/services – a day before the end of your program. This is how the process of FS Spa check-out looks like:
Step 1 Review Estimate. To ensure accuracy of payment, you will be provided with an Estimate - the final list of purchased spa services and products. Along with it you’ll receive the Fresh Start Team List for Tips. Please review the Estimate. Then fill out “Fresh Start Team List for Tips”, if you give tips by Debit, Credit, cheque to FS name, or cash for indirect payment (if FS will be distributing tips to the staff). We do not need the list if you choose to tip directly.
Step 2 Sign Estimate and return to Program Assistant. Sign Estimate, confirming that the appointment list is correct and return to Program Assistant, along with Team List for Tips (if applicable). If there are mistakes in your estimate, make corrections clearly before signing.
- If you plan to pay with a different credit card or payment method for spa services than for your program, please indicate it on the signed estimate.
- If there were corrections, or you use a different payment method, please additionally notify the Program Assistant in person when returning the signed Estimate.
- Please review and return the Estimate to Program Assistant asap, ideally within 1 hr after receiving. This will allow us to process your payment promptly. Remember that check-out takes for us some time, that we not always may know where you are, and trying to find you may be difficult.
- Please be aware! If you return the Estimate late, or if we did not have enough time to ask you clarifying questions in regards to your Estimate/ payment method before the end of a normal working day, we may not be able to process it till the next morning.
Step 4 Get Receipt The Program Assistant will provide you with your receipt after the check-out is done.
What does the procedure look like?
You will fully maintain your personal dignity. The treatment is done in a private room, with just you and your therapist, who fully appreciates the sensitivity of the colonic procedure and makes it her goal to help you feel at ease. You will even get a pair of stylish shorts with a little opening at the back! After the gentle insertion of the speculum, you are again completely covered, and sterile, purified water is used to gently flush the colon of toxins, parasites, undigested food, mucous, yeast, and hardened old fecal matter. Abdominal massage, performed during the session, will help to gently loosen toxic waste, and stimulate the nerves to release the contents in the bowel.
Does it hurt?
It is rarely painful. There may be some cramping, but it is brief and easily tolerated. Most people actually enjoy the colonic and experience a sensation of feeling lighter, clean, clear, and energized afterwards. For those who don’t, as a therapist I am also encouraged. A difficult colon therapy session signals a distressed colon and progress being made to change that state.
How long does it take?
A session takes approximately 45 minutes.
Will it smell?
There is no mess, odor, or sound with a colonic.
Will I leak?
Most people don’t leak. Part of the colon therapist’s job is to diminish your chance of leaking by controlling the water flow and listening to you.
Will I make a mess all over?
After colon hydrotherapy will I need to be close to the toilet all day?
No, this is not a worry.
I Want to Know More: What physically happens during a session?
Once you and your therapist have discussed the procedure and you feel more at ease with your new health venture, the two of you should establish your goals. Keeping your goals in mind, your therapist will typically advise you at this point of the schedule of colon cleansing that you will need to plan on in order to accomplish your goals. A series of colonics is generally required to bring the body back to a state of optimal health.
Before starting the actual procedure you are given a pair of flannel shorts, a towel and asked to remove appropriate clothing. Then, you need to empty your bladder in the near-by toilet so your session won’t be interrupted.
After lying down on a comfortable padded table, a lubricated disposable speculum, having a tapered end, is gently inserted into the rectum. The tapered end is actually a separate piece that is removed after insertion and discarded. This is called an obturator. It is designed so that the insertion is not uncomfortable, nor damaging to any rectal tissue. The speculum is then attached to two tubes. The smaller tube delivers the filtered, temperature controlled water to the speculum and your colon, while the larger tube carries the fecal waste to the colon therapy machine. The colon therapy machine is attached to the building’s plumbing system so that all waste is discretely moved from your body into the plumbing without offensive odor or embarrassment. During your colonic sessions, your therapist will always make sure your modesty and comfort needs are addressed.
The machine has a viewing tube with special lighting that allows you to see and the therapist to examine what is coming out of your body. This provides you both an opportunity to discuss what is happening and for you to ask any questions regarding what you see. Additionally you can see what happens in the tube (remember you are under a blanket covered) in the large mirror hung at your feet.
During an average 35-50 minute session, a colon hydrotherapist infuses 30-50 gallons of filtered water into a client. At any one “fill”, you may have between a pint and 2 quarts of water in your colon. During a fill, only the volume of water that feels comfortable for you is introduced. Once you feel full, you tell the therapist and the water is then released. Your colon empties out into the drainage tube carrying with it fecal and toxic matter that has been dislodged. This filling and emptying continues, along with abdominal massaging, for the entire session.
This repetitive filling with water not only flushes wastes out the colon, but it also stimulates the colon to contract. This contracting of the colon is called peristalsis. This is the same muscular action that the stool stimulates as it moves through the colon. In this way, colon cleansing with water is gentle and yet extremely effective because as you clean the colon, you are strengthening the colon muscles. This is why colon cleansing, if not used excessively, is not addictive, like laxatives, but is strengthening to your colon. Laxatives use chemicals to stimulate bowel movements, which is quite unnatural. Using water to cleanse your colon can be an excellent way to bring about optimal bowel function.
Once you and your therapist feel you are done, you sit on the toilet for 5-15 minutes. Having a squatting stool available at the toilet can make a big difference since a squatting stool allows the body to assume a position more conducive to comfortable expelling of colon waste. It is better if you really take your time while emptying on the toilet to bring about a full evacuation of the bowels as well as to increase their confidence that you won’t have an accident on your way home.
Is there any time I shouldn’t have hydrotherapy?
Yes. If you have uncontrolled hypertension or congestive heart failure, aneurysm, severe anemia, GI hemorrhage/perforation, severe hemorrhoids, renal insufficiency, cirrhosis, carcinoma of the colon, fistulas, abdominal hernia, recent colon surgery (less than three months) or are in the first and third trimester of pregnancy, you shouldn’t have colon hydrotherapy, unless approved by your doctor.
What do medical doctors have to say about colon hydrotherapy?
In 1917 in Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA) Dr. Kellog wrote that out of over forty thousand clients with gastrointestinal disease, he had to use surgery in only twenty. Using bowel cleansing, exercise and diet he was able to help the rest. Other Naturopathic and Medical doctors found colon hydrotherapy helpful for enlarged prostate, bladder problems, cancer, allergies, arthritis, asthma, acne, chronic fatigue, headaches, pigmentation, pot belly, skin rashes, internal tumors, toxic occupational exposure and many others. For a more detailed account of medical opinion, go to www.tldp.com Read the article entitled, “Value of Colon Hydrotherapy Verified by Medical Professionals” by Morton Walker.
How often should I have colon therapy?
During the cleansing program, if there are no contraindications, typically we see guests doing 2 colonics during 5-day, about 3 during 10-day and 4-6 during 14-day programs. The reason is that colonics enhance the results of the cleansing. This frequency is suggested only during the cleansing program.
In ideal world colon hydrotherapy would be a totally unnecessary procedure. I mean if people drank enough fluids, ate all raw food diet, had genetically strong digestive system, were not exposed to chemicals and would never stress out. However for most people regular colon cleansing can be a very healthy choice. There is no one prescription for all. If not on a Detox program, some might benefit from having a colonic once a month; others prefer a series of colonics once in three months, as the seasons change or once a year. Most find that after a colonic experience, they feel much better. It is this renewed vitality that is your guide. Keep it in mind. As soon as you find it diminishing, have a colon therapy session or a series of enemas. You’ll find that in doing this you might feel better instantly. Unfortunately, we do not live in environments that promote optimal health. It is a good thing that we have tools like colon hydrotherapy available to help our bodies return to better health.
