Fresh Start programs include two types of days:

  1. Detox
  2. Cellular Re-nourishment

These two are complementary in their action for reaching optimum health results.  They both similarly help our guests restore their energy levels, vitality, and weight loss, but have a slightly different focus.

The Main Differences Are That

  • During the detox days you will be semi-fasting, drinking more water, and will be taking many effective custom-made cleansing drinks,
  • While on cellular re-nourishment days indulge yourself on delicious, healthy, and healing raw/ vegan, mostly organic meals.

Another small difference is that during the detox day your program will have slightly less physical activities due to the body’s need for additional rest and healing.

Regardless of which type of days your program is on, throughout your stay you’ll be actively working on your health restoration and receive quality professional guidance:

  • Every full program day you will have organic juices, green smoothies/wheatgrass and teas, experience educational fitness classes, as well as be able to have access to healing body treatments.
  • In terms of program activities every day at Fresh Start is unique. We do our best to make your days memorable, enjoyable, and fun. One day you will watch a health video, another day have Qi Gong, and the next day it may be an art or hair class. But absolutely every day here there is something to do, and most importantly something to learn and take home with you: something new about health, emotional well-being and learning about yourself.

For maximum benefit, we highly suggest you to select the program that has both: detox and cellular re-nourishment. They greatly assist each other in their action, just like the left and right hands do each other:

  • the detox will “clean house”,
  • while the cellular re-nourishment will “renovate” it with living nutrients
  • the first will give a great start to health restoration, while the latter will deepen the process, therefore the body will be able to utilize nutrients much more effectively

Cleansing requires many nutrients:  After a thorough detox, the need for nutrients participation in cleansing processes is greatly decreased. As a result these nutrients will be available, and the body will be able to use them for rebuilding of tissues and organs and other helpful health restoration tasks. Additionally your results, including weight loss, will be greater and more long-lasting.

How Do I Know Whether My Program Includes Detox or Cellular Re-nourishment Days?
Please have a look at the Master Program Cycles Chart. It will help you understand what programs run when, and what days they start on – detox or cellular re-nourishment.

  • Full Detox Days are included in 16, 19 and 21-day programs.
  • With the shorter programs you have the option of choosing either semi-fasting or meal days, or a mixture.
  • If you have a preference, please check our Dates page.
  • Both types of days are highlighted with their own corresponding color.

TIP: While there might be an ideal length or cycles you wish to be on, go for the one that works best for your time and budget at this point in your life. You can always come back another time, but delaying and waiting for ‘all your ducks be in a row’ for your ideal program won’t make you any healthier. Even if you come for just 7 days, you’ll feel 100 times better after!

Please note that the Detox Day description is a bit more lengthy. This is because there are a few important aspects that we wanted to explain to you about the new to you cleansing process. However, the value of both programs and the number of activities and drinks is very similar.

Typical Day

A typical schedule for an eating (cellular re-nourishment) day is listed below, and is presented to give you some idea of how your time will be spent during your stay with us. For creation of special and enjoyable experience, our afternoon activities change daily.

We like starting our day by awakening and invigorating our body and mind with gentle exercise or with a meditation, and deep breathing.

Check Up and a Green Smoothie
8:00

This is the time when we get together to share our progress, plan our day, as well as guests check their blood pressure, pulse and weigh themselves.

Green Smoothie is a very yummy drink, which includes a variety of greens, full of minerals and high-grade protein, as well as different fruits that are in season. On most mornings your smoothies’ nutrient content will be enhanced with different seeds and exotic dried berries, such as Goji, Incan and Mulberry.

One Litre of Purified Water
8:00 – 1:00 PM

One thing that ensures normal cell functioning is drinking adequate amount of water. It brings nutrition to cells and removes by-products of metabolism. This is why during cellular re-nourishment days our guests drink 2L of purified water daily: 1L in the morning and 1L in the afternoon.

GI and Liver Reviving Shot, Living Breakfast with Digestive Enzymes and Probiotics

Our breakfasts are colorful and full of life. And they are so delicious… to live for! Made with fresh fruit, green salads, nuts, fermented foods and other healthy organic ingredients, they are simply rawsome!

GI and Liver Reviving Shot: At least every 7th Canadian has difficulty with digestion of certain foods or suffers with various digestive issues. Our morning custom-made drinks help wake-up the digestion, as well as activate the bile flow, thus improving breaking down of fats.

Digestive Enzymes & High Quality Probiotics (acidophilus): these two supplements will additionally enhance work of the digestive system.

Emotional Wellness Workshop or Group Time

To support complete healing – physically, mentally, and emotionally – we include Emotional Wellness Workshops and Group Bonding Time in the daily schedule. During these activities, we either present different topics related to emotional health, such as forgiveness, inner peace and self-respect, or facilitate an enjoyable group talk.

Health Lecture, Healthy Meals Preparation Class or Integration Workshop

Our health education is in depth, yet down to earth. We share the principles of health, practical tools and healthy recipes, and allow everybody to choose what works for him/her. During our lectures and classes you’ll find out how to prevent and get rid of a cold within 2-3 days, how to grow plants with a specially designed for your health conditions formula, and how to take care of your skin. You will also learn how to prepare a number of healthy and simple dishes, as well as how to integrate the acquired knowledge into your daily life.

Fresh Juice, Wheatgrass Shot, and Adrenal/ Thyroid Tonic

Wheat grass is a plant that is grown from the red wheat berry, a special strain of wheat that produces high concentrations of chlorophyll, active enzymes and vitamins.

Fresh squeezed juice from this plant, consumed within 30 min after preparation has huge benefits. These are just some of them:

  • Rebuilds the blood stream. Chlorophyll in wheat grass resembles human blood haemoglobin (protein that carries oxygen and iron in the body) so much, that drinking its juice can be compared with a healthy blood transfusion.
  • Helps prevent tooth decay
  • Improves the body’s ability to heal wounds
  • Keeps hair from greying
  • Reduces high blood pressure
  • Aids in the prevention and healing of cancer

Thyroid and Adrenal Tonic: this unique supplement, made from natural ingredients, will provide nourishment to your adrenal and thyroid glands, which often are stressed, fatigued and therefore may do not work optimally.

One Litre of Purified Water

Obviously, water dilutes toxins and is vital for proper elimination of them. It also helps clarity of thinking, since due to being very thin, the first blood vessels to suffer from dehydration are the capillaries going to the brain. Dehydration will prevent us from clear thinking, and good hydration will enhance it. However this is not the whole story. Water is an amazing nutritional supplement for weight loss.

When we do not drink enough, we overstress our kidneys. When unable to work properly, they “share” their toxic load with the liver. The liver in turn has to take care of too much stuff, and therefore loses its ability to metabolize fat efficiently. The result is that no matter how little unhealthy food you eat, you still gain weight rapidly. By rehydrating your body, it helps to reset your metabolism and restore healthy weight control mechanisms.

Note: Additionally, fresh lemon juice and a variety of healing herbal teas (Chamomile, Peppermint, Raspberry leaf, Fennel, Hibiscus, Rooibos, Nettle, Liver Tonic, etc.) are available throughout the day (these also count as your water).

Nap Time, or Guided and Independent Nature Walks and Excursions 
1:30-4:00

Many of us are so busy that never have a chance to unwind during the day.  Satisfy your body’s need for extra rest and make sure that it gets what it needs the most.

Fresh air is another healing component of health restoration. Three times a week we organize guided Nature Walks and Excursions, to show you around the Island. On the rest of the days, in case you do not want to nap, you can take a gorgeous walk to Oyster River Park, or to the beach by yourself or with a friend.

Digestive Tune-up Shot, Energizing Lunch with Digestive Enzymes and Probiotics 
2:30 (or after the previous activity)

Have you ever dreamed about guiltlessly eating cake for breakfast and pasta for lunch, without being afraid of gaining extra pounds? This is not a dream. It is possible. See it, smell it, taste it, and learn how to make it a reality here at our centre. You too can exclaim along with our guests: “Now I know that food that is good for you does not have to taste like a medicine!” During our retreats we use 80%+ raw or living foods, and occasional simply cooked vegan dishes.

Digestive Tune-up Shot, Digestive Enzymes and Probiotics will optimize your digestion of the meals.

Health video, Qi Gong, Dance, Art and Other Activities

One of our main goals is to help you to stay on track after you leave the center. Shown several days per week, our videos by renowned authorities in alternative health will help you to get motivated. On most alternative afternoons we organize extra curriculum activities such as Qi Gong, dance, and art classes.

Vegetable Smoothie, Hot Soup or Fresh Savoury Juice

This evening drink typically is savory. Due to its abundance in minerals, it has a calming and soothing effect on the digestive system, slows it down and prepares for the night rest.

Hydrotherapy Treatment
6:30 & 7:30

Our hydrotherapy treatments are our guests’ favorite activity, and a very powerful tool in inducing self-healing. It consists of a steam bath combined with aromatherapy, and alternated with cold showers. Steam beautifies and purifies the skin, including drug and tobacco toxins, and the contrast of the cold showers helps strengthen blood vessels and to improve circulation; essential oils of eucalyptus, pine and lavender assist in cleansing the respiratory tract. The session takes 45 min. Because our steam room cannot accommodate all the guests at once, we do offer the option at several sessions a day.

Additional Evening Fun
Once a week we have a fun late activity for night owls (Facial, Hair and Natural Cosmetics Classes), and once a week – a bonfire (in season, when fire restrictions allow).

Spa Treatments and Services

In-between drinks and program activities most of our guests choose to spend one to several hours a day on even deeper cleansing, and pampering themselves by doing massage, reflexology, colon hydrotherapy, emotional well-being sessions, infra-red sauna, facials and body wraps. The center provides over 40 different health spa services for an additional fee.

Isotonic Drink
8:30

The first step in our detoxification process is cleansing of the digestive tract. Effective work of this system is important so that the toxins released from organs and tissues flow freely out the body. Isotonic drinks are designed to provide an effective flush of the stomach, small intestines and colon. Additionally, this drink performs a thorough lymph system cleansing.

One and a Half Litres of Purified Water
9:00 – 1:00 PM

One thing that ensures effective cleansing is drinking a lot of water. Water dilutes toxins and helps eliminate them. Without water, detoxification would be ineffective and even dangerous. This is why on detox our guests drink 3L of purified water daily: 1.5L in the morning and 1.5L in the afternoon. While the body does not usually require this much water for normal daily activities and metabolic processes (unless you work hard physically and in hot weather), under these circumstances it is absolutely crucial.

Liver-Gall Bladder Cleanse
9:30

The second step in our detoxification process is the liver and gall bladder cleanse. The liver is a big filter in our body, through which every substance goes through, starting from healthy nutrients in fruits and finishing with poisonous arsenic (if it’s present). Overloading our liver with toxins makes it tired and sick. The bile that it produces gets thick and sluggish, gall stones may form and move to the body’s bile storage reservoir – the gall bladder, where they grow and calcify. Our custom made drink and liver capsules help both the liver and gall bladder to purify from stagnant bile.

Emotional Wellness Workshop or Group Time

During cleansing and overall healing time, a person may experience release of negative emotions, mood swings, and anger flare-ups for no particular reason. It is a natural releasing effect. To support complete healing—physically, mentally, and emotionally—we include Emotional Wellness Workshops and Group Bonding Time in the daily schedule. A & W + Thyroid/ Adrenal Tonic

No, our guests do not drive to the nearest town to eat a Big Mac or French fries. A&W stands for apple and wheat grass juice, and our guests love this healthy substitute. This is why we use them.

Apples contain a great amount of fiber, which Victoria Boutenko calls a magic sponge, because it can absorb more toxins than its volume. Though there are fruits that are richer in fiber, an apple has a very high amount of its soluble type or pectin, which is not present in a great abundance in most other fruit. In the apple it constitutes about 80% of the total fiber content. Water soluble fiber collects and disposes bile salts, which contain cholesterol. According to the research, consuming just one large apple per day decreases blood cholesterol by 8-11%, and 2 apples up to 16%. The remaining 20% of apple fiber is water insoluble, or cellulose. This type of fibre aids in the elimination of toxins from digestive tract, including heavy metals.

Brisk Walking, Deep Breathing or Rest

Moderate movement and being outside increases the speed with which wastes are carried away from cells and nutrients are brought to them. During a walk, almost all of our muscles move rhythmically. No other exercise can give our body the same harmony of movement and enhanced blood circulation. This is why we consider walks such an important part of our program and dedicate a significant portion of each day to this activity.

Deep breathing exercises are especially helpful for strengthening the immune system and healing of depression.
The strength of the immune system depends on lymph and blood circulation. Lymph and blood move down the body by the pull of gravity and heart contractions. However, they do not have a pump to move them back up to the heart. Therefore the body designed for this purpose two other mechanisms: breathing and muscle contraction. When we inhale deeply, we stimulate lymph and blood in veins to come back to the lungs for purification, and thus improve the function of the immune system.

Breathing reflects our thinking. Notice how you breathe when you think of sad memories or experience fear. Most likely, your breathing is shallow and short. By changing the way you breathe, you can change the way you think and feel.

Note: Due to increased need of the body to rest during the advanced detox period, we do not suggest to engage into active physical endeavours at that time, and for that reason do not offer morning group fitness classes on detox days.

During cleansing, especially in its initial stages, most people feel chilly and more tired than usual because their body redirects a large part of its energy from heating and regular activities towards healing and restoration of its tissues. This is a normal part of the healing process, and a person should satisfy their body’s need for extra rest and to make sure that their body gets what it needs the most.

Fresh air is another healing component of health restoration. Three times a week we organize guided Nature Walks and Excursions, to show you around the Island. On the rest of the days, in case you do not want to nap, you can take a gorgeous walk to Oyster River Park or to the Beach by yourself or with a friend.

Poultice Drink and Parasite Formula

This drink is a powerful absorbent, containing the finest charcoal and cleansing herbs. It binds toxins released into the digestive tract and prevents their re-absorption into the blood stream.
Our Parasite formula contains a blend of herbs with anti-parasitic properties, including clove and wormwood.

Hydrotherapy Treatment
6:30 & 7:30
