Carolyn Hamilton
Body Worker
"The root of all health is in the brain. The trunk of it is in emotion. The branches and leaves are the body. The flower of health blooms when all parts work together."
Carolyn is living her passion in life. When she was just six years old, she started doing body treatments on her mother, who was often ailing with asthma and other medical problems. Carolyn pressed on her mom’s back and massaged in an attempt to calm her, ease her anxiety and asthma symptoms. This often worked and I over time developed into a strong interest in body work. While in her twenties, Carolyn took some massage courses, reflexology and acupressure, and began using some of these techniques on her work mates, who were often uncomfortable sitting at their computers and experienced pain and tightness in the neck and shoulders. After Carolyn’s 5-10 minute “treatment” they would feel much better and they would say, “Carolyn, you should be doing this all the time! You have healing hands”.
For many years Carolyn worked at a large medical centre with 27 doctors, where she booked surgeries for the Operating Room, prepared reports, histories, and other medical documentation. She observed how patients came in hunched over in pain, and then pushing the meds out in the parking lot. They were using “band aids”, with no improvement in sight, some became addicted to drugs, and some worsened and died. Carolyn wanted to find and offer a solution for these suffering people. She had attended several holistic practitioners and got training by Oscar Bezaire. She also entered Wind Song School of Healing, where she studied in depth anatomy and physiology, Shiatsu, Jin Shin Do acupressure, iridology, and energy medicine. After attending Wind Song, Carolyn continued obtaining training in a variety of healing modalities, including: Ortho-bionomy, applied kinesiology, advanced Shiatsu, Bowen Therapy and acupressure. She took hot/cool stone therapy, auriculotherapy, reflexes to specific organs or organ systems, pulse taking, and reflexology, as well as studied Klawiterapia in Europe. Carolyn has Hospice training and experience in working with people who have lost loved ones, as well as is a DONA-certified doula.
Carolyn enjoys a number of physical activities, including yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, aerobics, weight training, belly dancing, Pilates, skiing, hiking and long distance running. She ran the “Burning Boot or Great Walk” from Gold River to Tahsis (63.3 km) multiple times. Besides physical exercise, Carolyn has many hobbies and loves contributing to the society through community work. She is an avid gardener with 11 flower gardens, a large vegetable garden, berry patches, and a huge greenhouse. Other Carolyn's hobbies include: stained and fused glasswork, acrylic and oil painting, photography and digital art. She volunteered/volunteers for Hospice, the Cancer Society, Tsolum School, the Registrar of the Comox Valley Skating Club and M.A.R.S. (Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society). She enjoys assisting injured and starving wildlife and drove 80 miles to save a blue heron and 8 hours to rescue a Merlin hawk.
